The MDM organizers have updated their web page: now you will find a very detailed description of the conference site and the ways leading to the registration desc at http://mdm2007.uni-mannheim.de/venue.html.
Data processing in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a well-known challenge. The related problems become even more considerable when the sensor applications have high bandwidth requirements and stringent delay constraints. Those requirements are common for Data Intensive Applications (DIAs) of WSNs, such as structural health monitoring, disaster management, emergency response, etc. The requirements of DIAs become especially critical for efficient data delivery in large-scale and mobile sensor networks. As the data load increases, the key performance parameters of wireless sensor networks degrade. The data glut may result in unacceptable data loss, time delay and overall energy consumption.
DISN'07 aims to provide a platform for discussing open issues, current challenges and solutions, as well as directions for future research on efficient utilization of Data Intensive Sensor Networks. A particular objective of the workshop is to explore advanced strategies that fuse techniques from different areas of databases and networking in order to meet high performance requirements of DIAs. The workshop intends to bring together researches and practitioners in a broad range of topics related to DISNs. Both theoretical and practical experience papers are solicited.
The topics of interest include but are not limited to

April 15, 2007: Our (preliminary) workshop program and the list of accepted papers is online!
Februar 10, 2007: In order to meet the needs of more-than-ordinary busy colleagues, the DISN'07 submission deadlines have been extended to February 16 (abstract) and February 23 (full paper). These are firm deadlines.
Januar 23, 2007: We got news from the MDM organizers concerning the workshop shedule and the proceedings. We will have electronic proceedings of the workshops published by IEEE. In order to have these proceedings ready in time for the conference, camera-ready versions of the papers need to be submitted to IEEE by April, 1st. We will talk to the PC members to reschedule the date for the author's notification so that the authors have enough time to rework the final version of the paper according to the comments of the reviewers.
In addition, the workshop date has been fixed at Friday, May 11th. We hope that there will be no mixup with dates posted in the calls for paper, and we are very sorry for any inconveniences caused by the changes in the schedule.
